We are fortunate in the Triad area of North Carolina to have the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market. A year round, daily farmers market with booths for rent to local farmers, growers and craftspeople under two large shelters and permanent shops in an enclosed building. It's a wonderful place to spend a day buying farm fresh produce, organic meat, plants and trees, handcrafted cheese and soaps, and beautiful boquets of fresh cut flowers. The PTFM also includes A.B. High Point Station

The High Point passenger station is a brick and stone structure built in 1907 by the Southern Railway Company in the heart of downtown High Point. It was designed in the Richardson Romanesque architectural style, with a rusticated ashlar base and tiled hip roof. It was restored between 2003-2003.
High Point Museum

Each of the Museum’s permanent exhibits offers insight into High Point's past. In the main gallery space, explore the images and stories that record the individuals who lived, worshiped and worked in High Point. Learn about the Native Americans who first settled the land, get a glimpse of the Plank Road, imagine the sounds of one of the many factories, and have the chance to picture John Coltrane’s hands gliding across the keys of his piano.
The Furniture Heritage exhibit offers a unique perspective on the history of furniture manufacturing in our area. And don't miss the dazzling detail and intricate craftsmanship of Meredith's Miniatures!
Our adjacent Historical Park has three historic buildings: the John Haley House (1786), the Hoggatt House (1801) and a working blacksmith shop (1841), plus a historically authentic herb garden.
Mendenhall Plantation

This one-of-a-kind site features some of the finest examples of early 19th century Quaker architecture in the South. Be sure to see the circa 1811 home of Richard Mendenhall, an early Quaker abolitionist, tanner and horticulturalist; an authentic "false-bottom" wagon that was used to help fugitive slaves escape north to freedom; the circa 1817 Lindsay House, one of North Carolina's earliest medical schools; a historic circa 1805 Pennsylvania-style "Bank Barn," the only historic example of this building type open to the public in North Carolina; one of the most representative collections of Native American points from North Carolina.

Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden

Known for its massive annual plantings and bronze sculpture, this 7.5-acre garden is a popular and relaxing retreat. A man-made re-circulating stream provides texture, movement and sound, and a Sensory Garden engages visitors in an interactive landscape experience. A variety of sculpture placed throughout the garden provides artistic and historic interest, and a Paver Plaza, located at the garden's entrance, offers a way to lend your name to the garden.The garden is open year-round from sunrise to sunset. Bog Garden

The Bog Garden is an example of a wetland environment using plants native to the area. The garden features a bog and lake that may be viewed from a half-mile long elevated boardwalk. Its plants include indigenous vegetation, with individually labeled trees, shrubs, ferns, and bamboo, as well as wildflowers and wild roses. The site is also a haven for native and migratory birds. In 2005, a 150-foot man-made waterfall was installed in the park
Old Mill of Guilford

The Old Mill of Guilford was founded in North Carolina on Beaver Creek in 1767 to grind grain for the early settlers of what is now Guilford County. Today, the mill continues to produce all-natural, stone-ground, whole grain foods, just as it has for over 240 years.

NC Transportation Museum

The North Carolina Transportation Museum is a transport museum in Spencer, North Carolina. The museum is largely devoted to the state's railroad history; however, its collection also includes exhibits of automobiles and aircraft. The museum's roster contains almost 30 locomotives.It is the largest repository of rail relics in North and South Carolina and averages 80,000 visitors annually
Hanging Rock State Park

Since its creation as a 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps project, Hanging Rock State Park has offered the best of a traditional outdoor experience with 73-site campground, picnic grounds, stocked lake for swimming and canoe rentals and more than 20 miles of hiking trails that climb onto spectacular views and weave alongside clear streams and waterfalls. There is also access on the Dan River for paddling, 8.4 miles of mountain biking trails and rock climbing opportunities with permit. A complex of vacation cabins is available for longer visits.
Pilot Mountain - Mt. Airy

Mayberry RFD icon Andy Griffith grew up in Mount Airy, North Carolina, and it's no coincidence that a stroll down Mount Airy's Main Street reminds people of the town of Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show. Seagrove

Morrow Mountain State Park

Choose an adventure at Morrow Mountain State Park, whether it’s hiking, camping, paddling, fishing, horseback riding, swimming or just taking in scenery on one of the highest points in the piedmont. More than 15 miles of hiking trails and 16 miles of bridle trails thread the park, reaching from the summit of Morrow Mountain to Lake Tillery, where a boathouse offers canoes and rowboats for rent and bait for fishing. Sliding Rock
On Highway 276, 8 miles outside of Brevard NC
Located in the Pisgah National Forest just north of Brevard. 7.6 miles from the junction of US Highways 64 and 276, is Sliding Rock, one place where you’re invited to “take the plunge” down a 50-foot slippery cascade into the 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool.
There are 2 observation platforms, and lifeguards on duty during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area, so it’s suggested you come early. But you’ll have fun! It’s suggested, too, that you wear old shorts and old sneakers if you choose to take the plunge. Nominal admission charge for sliders ($2) but no cost to watch. Lifeguards on duty in season.
